Broil that oily fish.

Editor,

Check out 18th-century French chateaux if you want to see where the U.S.A. is headed. One guy owns a huge mansion and hundreds of square miles of gardens, lawns, and woodlands while everyone for miles around is lucky if they own a pair of shoes. And the luckiest of those have a job doing menial labor for the one guy who owns everything for as far as the eye can see.

So-called "conservatives" love this picture. They feel entitled to own everything to their fellow citizens' nothing and give zero thought to the poverty, disease, environmental destruction, and suffering upon which sustaining this model rests.

People who used to have jobs in this country will be panhandling when their unemployment insurance is cut off. State workers will get the boot as well just to make the distribution of misery fair. But the rich won't suffer. Everybody works for them, including the unemployed, who keep the lucky few who have jobs terrified of losing theirs.

This is what terrorism looks like in a "conservative" paradise. And when the Republicans take over in 2012 because the Democrats don't know what to do and are afraid to do it even if they did know, we will be living in our very own Argentina, where "harsh interrogation techniques" will be used to disrupt uppity circles of folks who don't happen to like this vision of America.

So broil that oily fish while you can afford it, because the people at the top are only too willing to grind you into the dirt with their boot heel while they toast one another and laugh about how wonderfully successful and rich they are.
