Editor,
I'm afraid Mr. Rich is talking to a wall when he urges Mr. Obama to act decisively, because our president seems to understand his role to be "listening to every side's ideas," even ideas that boil down to eliminating what meager protections remain of the American people from corporate predation.
I keep wondering why the biggest of big money backed Mr. Obama during the 2008 election cycle, and it must be because he demonstrated in their talks with him telltale signs of hamstringing inner conflict so clearly they knew he could easily be pushed around. The man is afraid to assert himself. Look at his cabinet.
Millions of Americans put their hopes on Mr. Obama because they thought he would declare war on the occupation of our country by giant corporations, and instead those same corporations are leading him around by the nose in irrelevant graveyards like Afghanistan and "listening to every side's ideas."
