No hope of success.

Editor,

Gen. McChrystal was handed a deadline he had no part in deciding by Gen. Petraeus and the officials he insulted to the Rolling Stone reporter.

It's like the leak in the Gulf. Bosses can't just tell someone to go stop it. "Go beat the Taliban. And do it by July, 2011." The project is absurd. The Taliban, or whoever succeeds them in the Afghan hurly-burly will never be "defeated" by the American military.

What ever happened to American ingenuity? Where did our brains go? All this nation knows how to do anymore, besides dream up imaginary financial vehicles with which to suck workers' life savings out of their pockets, is fight wars with people who want nothing more than to be left alone, beat their women, rape their children, and sell heroin.

We are going to change this by winning a war? Even if we have allies in Afghanistan, they are cut from the same cloth as our enemies there. We are wasting our history on a conflict which by definition has no hope of success.
