The people.

The people with big money, who run our country and who run the world, do not care. Their cohort have never cared for thousands of years. It isn't about the suffering of the many for them. It is just about their money. Where did slavery come from? Colonialism? Free trade? Ginned up invasions on false pretenses? Economic collapse? Environmental destruction? Torture? Etc., etc. People who see that these things are done do not care about me and you or anybody else. They have money. People with guns work for them. For a while the U.S. Constitution stood between us and them, but it only took them 200 or so years to figure out how to get around it. Propaganda. Campaign contributions. When you own the government, the "people" are irrelevant.
