Police state.

Editor,

I met two Swiss girls at a bus stop this afternoon. When I asked them how it feels to be traveling in the U.S.A., they told me it feels like being in a police state. Oh, tut tut, you say. Fine. You don't think we are living in a police state. But locking people up forever without allowing them to confront their accusers and torturing them for good measure looks like a police state to the rest of the world. Police state. Police state. That is what those poor suckers fed up with our lousy economy (which the Republicans destroyed) are going to get more of if they vote in a Republican -- synonym for authoritarian -- Congress in the Fall.
