Organize and fight for what you deserve.

Editor,

And what do you propose public employees' pay and retirement should be? A little on the impoverished side maybe? Why? Don't they do a job, like save your life if you are caught in an undertow? Don't they deserve to live a middle class life and enjoy a piece of the American dream? Why not?

Why pick on public employees when corporate CEO's, who cut thousands of workers' salary and benefits -- and did away with fixed-benefit pensions -- so they can pay themselves millions a year, retire with golden parachutes worth hundreds upon hundreds of millions for themselves. Hundreds of millions for one guy and layoffs for you and me.

The bete noir in the decline-of-America story is not public employee welfare queens. It is an anti-democratic economic system perpetuated by corporate control of politics. Oh. So public employee unions learned to use some of the tactics corporations do to protect their interests. But you, miserable wage slave at a corporation, have to take what your bosses give you. Don't blame the public employees for that. Organize and fight for what you deserve.
