Here is a "legislative trick" for the Republicans: raise the debt ceiling. No "negotiations," no conditions. Why? Because if you prevent this, interest rates will go through the roof, the dollar will plummet, and the stock market will crash, as will the American economy and the global economy.

Yes, you are trying to destroy the United States of America, but if you do it this way, you will demolish the bottom lines of the multinational corporations and billionaires who are your constituency.

Your only alternatives are capitulation or scorched earth, the latter of which would succeed in impoverishing the unwashed you hate so passionately but would hurt your bosses, too. The trick, you see, is to enslave the masses while making the rich richer. Bringing the economy down will hurt your friends, so you are in a bind.
