Editor,
"House Republicans, and some Senate Republicans, remain adamant that they will not agree to any plan that increases taxes, even for the wealthy and corporations."
No. This is how it works: Not sensibly taxing so-called "job creators," who hoard financial assets and/or create jobs in China, India, Mexico, etc. -- not here -- (in concert with imperial wars funded by hundreds of billions of dollars in deficit spending) beggars government at all levels.
The result is that the 98% of Americans the Republicans are working to impoverish and enslave pay higher fees for diminished services -- parks, libraries, college tuition, student fees, buses, parking, toll roads, phone fees, dog licenses, sales taxes, vehicle license fees, etc.
No. "Not raising taxes" means not raising taxes on the corporations and rich people who own the United States and give their marching orders to both political parties: the (less and less) good-cop Democrats and the (more and more) bad-cop Republicans.
Here is a concept for you: Tax. The. Rich.
