Editor,
My hope is that the Occupy movement will become so widespread and so popular that citizen candidates aligned with neither the Republican nor the Democratic party but clearly cognizant of the destructive power of corporate rule will arise in precincts around the nation and sweep status quo politicians out of office in a landslide from coast to coast.
This is an election season, after all, and to hand "demands" to business-as-usual politicians -- to put the ball in their court as it were -- is a trap this movement should avoid at all costs.
The 99% should not make "demands" to a power structure that is controlled by the 1%. The 99% should wrest power out of the hands of that 1% by peaceful electoral means and show once and for all that self-government as defined and systematized by the Founders can work to "promote the general welfare" of this nation.
