Intellectual giant.

Editor,

Paul Ryan has been declared the intellectual giant of the Republican party by a long list of other self-anointed intellectual giants in the Republican party.

In my opinion it does not take an intellectual giant or a committee of supposed intellectual giants to stomp on the weakest and most vulnerable members of society to make the rich and powerful richer and more powerful.

Perhaps these intellectual giants think and agree amongst themselves they have found the magic argument that transforms cruelty on a monumental scale into something else, or that their argument is so airtight that no human -- even a Christ if there were such a thing -- could prove that compassion has any place in human society.

Yes, it is an every-man-for-himself world. To individuals who perceive the world that way. Intellectual giants, they call themselves. Not numskull pantywaists like the Buddha, Jesus, Gandhi, MLK, Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, or any of a zillion people who have come to the conclusion that service to others is one's highest calling.

Towering totalitarian militaristic imperialist intellects seem to tower in their own opinions only. Until their cruel and brutal regimes crumble into the worthless waste of human energy they always were and always will be.
