Republicans have decided to blame the death toll in rampage shootings on mental illness.

Brilliant, eh?

A "mentally ill" person with an AR-15 is no more of a threat to public safety than a "mentally ill" person with a knife.

Meanwhile, mentally ill people are far more likely to be the victims of violent crimes than their perpetrators.

Just one more in a seemingly endless list of scapegoats Republicans invent to justify being on the wrong side of history.

Reproductive health, wealth inequality, taxes, global warming, evolution, foreign affairs, environmental protection, labor rights, health care, education, safety net, assault weapons, high-capacity ammunition clips, armor-piercing bullets, immigration.

Wrong on every count.
