Social Security COLA

Burying unconscionable and irrational changes to Social Security benefits in the phrase "changes to entitlement programs like Medicare" is yet another instance where the press is misinforming American citizens and complicit in leading yet another class of vulnerable citizens to slaughter.

A. Social Security contributes not one nickel to the budget deficit.

B. Reducing COLA's on $12,000/year Social Security benefits so that people making more than $250,000/year --- 20 times as much! --- can enjoy lower taxes is exactly what President Obama was elected NOT to do.

C. Social Security is not a dole that Washington generously bestows. It is an earned benefit that workers pay into for decades, a contract that Republicans are determined to violate and which Mr. Obama, predictably, lacks the courage or conviction to defend.
