Future citizens.

Editor,

I am tired of hearing about preparing the next generation of American workers.

Let's talk about preparing the next generation of American citizens.

The historical, economic, social, and scientific nonsense American consumers of corporate media swallow and believe is true guarantee that shills fronting for corporations and the uber rich will be elected again and again to public office.

The USA is not the United Corporations of America. The role of education is not to prepare a population of properly skilled serfs to do the work of their capitalist masters.

It is to provide the people of the USA with the intellectual tools they need to recognize, reject, and refuse to acquiesce to the lies, half truths, distortions, and disinformation that lie at the heart of the warfare being waged on American workers by the monied elite.

Ideally this would include properly educating future police officers so they refuse to brutalize citizens exercising their rights to association, assembly, and speech; and future soldiers so they refuse to commit war crimes to further enrich the military-industrial complex; and future employees of corporations so they refuse to be complicit in the thievery and other crimes of the ruling class.
