Authoritarian regimes do not bargain with truth tellers.

Imperial USA didn't set the NSA apparatus up to defer to common decency and tear it down. We are the enemy. Everyone on planet Earth is the enemy because what this system is meant to protect is a global corporate hegemon. Capitalism as it is practiced by Washington, DC and Wall Street has built a fortress around itself. The system has to change, and a coterie of very rich and very powerful actors will do everything it takes to see to it that it doesn't.

The USA has killed millions of people since WWII who wanted nothing more than self-determination: corporate plunderers out of their countries, corporations' killers out of their lives.

Now the war has come home to the USA.

Why do you think local police forces look like intergalactic storm troopers?

If enough people express enough outrage, some token concessions will probably be made around the margins. But this spy apparatus is here to stay, and the line you will be beat over the head with day and night is that it is necessary to protect you from terrorists. "Terrorists," my friends, are Americans who want a democratic society.
