You.

Editor,

Welcome to the Mad Hatter's Tea Party, where words like imminent, threat, terrorist, battlefield, combatant, and a litany of other words mean what a gaggle of murderers gathered in secret say they mean.

Anwar al-Alaki was not a terrorist. He was a dissident.
His 16-year-old son was a distraught boy wanting to be with his father.

These al-Alaki murders make crystal clear exactly why NSA spying threatens the very core of American democracy, not least freedom of assembly. Given the continued successful perpetration of terrorist acts inside the USA, from the Boston Marathon bombings to the Newtown massacre, it is obvious that NSA spying only serves one purpose: to map the social networks of everyone, so that the next time public demonstrations on the scale of Occupy or a movement on the scale of that against the Vietnam War occurs, the anti-democratic faction in power in the USA at the time can quickly round up and eliminate any and all individuals, and their friends, involved at any level in the organization of the "threat."

You are the threat. And whoever controls the NSA can kill you whenever they like if they do not like you.
