American politicians think that their approval of other countries and other regimes is the ultimate stamp of legitimacy that anyone would be thrilled to receive.

The fact is that most of the world views American politicians as overbearing, self-important, clueless, dangerous fools.

Don't take my word for it. Ask anyone.
