Editor,
Monica Lewinsky was a windfall for the Republican party, a welcome distraction with which to cripple Bill Clinton's presidency.
I never was and am not a fan of Bill Clinton's neoliberal politics, but I am far less a fan of the Republican party's moral authoritarianism, on the basis of which they are forever obstructing government with whatever pretext they can sell to a gullible and basically ignorant public.
That millions of people think that who does what to whom among consenting adults has anything to do with them is a measure of just how ignorant that public is. Republicans' manipulative sanctimony is nauseating: bullying, tormenting, and humiliating harmless people for political gain
Monica Lewinsky's TED talk contributed to discussion of the more general issues of cyber bullying and ruining people's reputations for profit by encouraging victims of these attacks to stay strong and realize not everyone is against them. She has a right to say this, and it is positive.
