Editor,
Republicans have nothing to offer besides a failed economic theory -- trickle-down economics -- a risible pretext to enable corporations and rich individuals to stuff all of society's capital into their own pockets at everybody elses's expense.
Republicans are too blinded by greed and hatred for the weak to grasp the concept of demand. They actually believe a business will invest in plant and equipment and hire employees if handed subsidies despite the fact that not enough potential customers can afford to buy the products it already makes.
Stimulating supply in a depressed economy is ridiculously self-defeating when the obvious solution is to stimulate demand. But Republicans are ideologically nauseated by even the thought of putting money in the hands of precisely those people -- workers, minorities, poor people, the sick, the young, the weak, and the old -- who they believe in their heart of hearts the rich are created by God to prey on.
