George Bush, for whom "diplomacy" is a tactic one employs to inflict one's own agenda when waging war is difficult, lacks the key talent required to engage in productive dialog with an adversary: the ability to listen.
A negotiating team genuinely motivated to hear and understand Tehran's needs, fears, hopes, and dreams could do much to correct the dismal relationship our government has had with Iran's leaders at least since 1953.
