Editor,
Iraq elections. Afghanistan elections. Doesn't anyone in Washington notice the absurdity of American pretenses for continuing these stupid, horrible, and destructive wars?
Do we really need to tear up half of Asia to protect ourselves from a handful of rabid madmen half a world away? Don't we have police and intelligence authorities who know how to identify and apprehend people like this? We are not talking about Kara Mustafa and an invading hoard here.
Wouldn't a little common sense, like not selling small arms to every would-be revolutionary on the planet accomplish more than these wars?
