No surprise here. Mr. Obama is good at running for office, but he is no Lyndon Johnson when it comes to getting things done. There are two kinds of politics: pumping up the public with inspiring rhetoric and banging heads within the halls of power to make what you want happen. It's pretty clear by now that Mr. Consensus doesn't have the internecine skills needed to succeed in the job we hired him to do. It's OK. He's not a bad guy. Everyone has his own special gifts, and Mr. Obama's do not include a talent for governing.
