These are Rube Goldberg band-aids piled on top of tortured complications to prolong the life of a corrupt, irrational, for-profit health insurance system.

I can understand that capitalists like the idea of money for nothing -- big money for nothing. But unfortunately that game has played itself to its logical conclusion. A few die-hard Republicans, a handful of Tea Party dupes, and of course the limo class that likes living off the blood of everybody else are "opposed" (as if their opposition is principled as opposed to self-serving).

But the vast majority of Americans know what the solution is and have been politely asking for it: single payer. Now is the time, as Mr. Obama likes to say in a rousing tone. Now is the time. For single payer.
