Editor,
The United States is occupied by a colonizing corporate power and its puppet government. You can be sure that "entitlements" -- namely essential government services that the vast majority of American citizens depend on (Social Security, Medicare) -- will be cut but that "defense" spending for the occupation's military and subsidies for its corporations will only grow.
If you can afford to save any money and buy a few shares of the right stocks, as opposed to having to spend whatever comes in your door on necessities, you will make more on your "investments" (bets) than you would in a savings account, while those entities and individuals who own millions of shares will make billions.
The so-called recovery will continue. Corporate profits will increase, including those of the giant banks, because the occupier will do whatever is required for its small coterie to prosper. But the days of significant crumbs spilling from the corporate casino into the hands of American citizens have long since passed.
Now if you can cobble together enough orts from our master's lavish table to survive, you will be a hero, but guard them carefully because many hands will be grasping for them. Have you ever seen seagulls fight over a scrap of garbage? Welcome to occupied America.
