Sideshow.

Editor,

The talks at the Americas Summit in Columbia have been handily reduced by the American press to a scandal about some Secret Service agents ripping of some prostitutes. Bravo, American media. You have buried the substance of those talks so deep that hardly any Americans know what the issues were.

Let me tell you. A) Reduce American demand for drugs, B) short of that, decriminalize them to reduce the violence surrounding them, C) stop excluding Cuba from these meetings.

Guess who thwarted all three of these. Right. The USA, and if I am not mistaken, our rapidly-degenerating-into-right-wing-lunacy neighbor to the north. But hey, let's all prattle on about Secret Service sex scandals. Reducing demand for drugs in the USA is such a sideshow, who would want to even bother thinking about it?
